Cork Patients Deserve Better

Patients Deserve Better

PSPA Ireland are proud to support the Patients Deserve Better campaign.  Online launched in Cork University Hospital on 2nd November 2021 by the Neurological Alliance of Ireland. https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/patients-deserve-better-cork-launch-tickets-190942693737

This campaign highlights the importance of neurological nurses and the critical shortfall in our healthcare system.

Ireland has in total 42 neurology nurses. We should have 142.    100 short?!

More nurse specialists in neurology will ensure that people with neurological conditions have improved access to healthcare support, a reduction in waiting time for appointments and direct support for people with neurological conditions.

The potential to improve condition management in progressive conditions like Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Degeneration cannot be understated.

Cork is a National Neuroscience Centre yet they have no dedicated specialist nurses for progressive and complex tauopathies like Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Degeneration or other better known neurological conditions such Motor Neuron Disease, Parkinson’s disease,  Huntington’s Disease, Muscular Dystrophy  and Migraine
