Welcome to PSPA Ireland, the support organisation in Ireland for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). We are dedicated to supporting patients, carers, families and friends who live with or have been affected by either of these complex degenerative brain diseases.
The Mission of PSPA Ireland is to have an Irish based organisation for persons suffering from PSP and CBD, their carers and families, providing them with updated information on items relating to their conditions, holding group meetings at which they can share their experiences, advocating for the rights of our members with government and service providers, raising awareness about the diseases amongst medical professionals and the general public.
We raise awareness of PSP and CBD on a local and national level and work in partnership with the relevant bodies and umbrella organisations in Ireland, Northern Ireland and in the United Kingdom.
Working for a world free of PSP: All of those involved with PSPA Ireland are committed to supporting, providing and developing services for people with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Degeneration.
Video Note – The poem in the video above was created by Maria Bailey and participants of a research project. The research, a collaboration between PSPA Ireland, the Dept of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Limerick exploring the experiences of families and caregivers while caring for individuals living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy was funded by the Irish Research Council.
