Patients Deserve Better

PSPA Ireland are proud to support the Patients Deserve Better campaign launched in Limerick University Hospital on 4th October 2021 by the Neurological Alliance of Ireland.

This campaign highlights the importance of neurological nurses and the critical shortfall in our healthcare system.

Ireland has in total 42 neurology nurses. We should have 142.

Do the maths – we are 100 short!

Increasing the number of nurse specialists in neurology will ensure that people with neurological conditions have improved access to healthcare supports, reduction in waiting time for appointments and direct support to people with neurological conditions. Their potential to improve condition management in progressive conditions like Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Degeneration cannot be understated.

We have no specialist nurse for the progressive and complex tauopathies like Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Degeneration.

The campaign focuses initially on Limerick but if you live in Clare and Tipperary and avail of services in this region you can take action too contacting your TD/senator.
