The Andy O’ Connor fundraising walk raises €1390

The Andy O’Connor walk was held by his children:Tommy, Juliet, Mary,George and Caitríona and his wife Kathleen, fourteen grandchildren, five sisters and his brother in memory of a much loved father.

Caitríona talks about her dad in the piece below.

Dad died in 2010 after a long illness from PSP and Lewy body Dementia 😢

In 2004 he was initially diagnosed with Lewy body Dementia and in 2007 he was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Sadly he suffered for 9 years but was only diagnosed after taking him to 4 different hospitals to finally get an answer.

My dad didn’t smoke or drink and was very proud of that and was a very hard working man .

In his younger days he loved playing Gaelic football and was a brilliant cross country runner .

We were always very grateful to PSP in England for their help as there was no association in Ireland at the time, so that’s why our family would like to give something small to help PSPA in Ireland. In December we did a walk with our family and friends and raised €1390.  Hopefully this will help someone in need of support.

Families coming together like this can change lives for the better. What a wonderful way to honor Andy‘s memory. We thank you for braving the cold weather and making this very generous donation. We will ensure that every penny you raised goes to dedicated support for people with PSP.
