The Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI) has launched a campaign calling for a dedicated Consultant Neurologist for Portlaoise hospital.
Portlaoise hospital currently does not have a neurology service, despite the recommendation of the 2016 Model of Care for Neurology Services.
The alternative for neurological patients is travelling up to 75 kilometres to hospitals in Dublin to see a Neurologist when they could be seen more quickly and easily in Portlaoise hospital.
On Monday 20th May at 1pm NAI will be holding an online event to enable TDs and counsillors to hear from local patients, patient organisations and clinicians on the need for a dedicated Neurology Service for Portlaoise hospital.
