Progressive Supranuclear Palsy(PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) are rare progressive neurological conditions. They are under recognised, underdiagnosed and frequently misdiagnosed. We need more specialist neurology nurses in the healthcare system to support people with neurological disease.
It is time to start addressing the realities of those most in need of support and provide the necessary services for a good quality of life.
People living with PSP and CBD and their families face a constant battle for understanding to get the timely and the appropriate support that living with a complex progressive and life limiting condition deserves.
If you have never had a diagnosis of a neurological condition you may ask what difference will a specialist nurse make?
The Neurological Alliance of Ireland have put together the following videos showing the valuable role a specialist nurse has made in these disorders.
